DCM certified with the Taking Climate Action label

Sustainability has always been an essential part of our corporate philosophy and is more important today than ever before. Global warming can no longer be denied. We are all facing an enormous challenge. We are taking up this challenge. With innovative products and packaging concepts, with investments in sustainable production facilities and company buildings, with less energy consumption and increased use of renewable energies.

That is why we work in a AEN (Almost Energy Neutral) office building and have been certified with the Taking Climate Action label since 2021! This means that we reduce the CO2 emissions of our production facilities as much as possible and compensate the remaining CO2 emissions through climate protection projects.

This is done in collaboration with CO2logic, Belgian expert in the field of carbon footprinting and achieving CO2 neutrality. The CO2 Neutral® label guarantees that labelled organisations are actively calculating, reducing and compensating their local and global climate impact in order to become CO2- neutral.

The Taking Climate Action label is also validated by Vinçotte, an international independent certification body. The CO2 emissions that are taken into account are not only related to production but to the entire business operations (scope 1 & 2), including the emissions from company cars and general office infrastructure.

"DCM now holds the Taking Climate Action label and thus takes responsibility for the true impact of its CO2 emissions, instead of shifting it onto society and future generations."

says Jeroen Hulsmans of CO2Logic

What we cannot reduce, we compensate for

Despite our continuous efforts to keep our carbon footprint as small as possible, we cannot completely avoid CO2 emissions. That is why we compensate the remaining emissions by supporting climate protection projects in Indonesia.

DCM is currently supporting the Wind Energy project in Vietnam, at the Hao Binh Wind Farm. The aim of the project is to produce sustainable energy and reduce dependence on fossil fuels. The offshore wind farm generates clean electricity for thousands of households in Vietnam.

Did you know …

that we have a Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO) or air after-treatment installation? With this installation, the air released during DCM’s production process is cleaned according to the highest standards. This installation represents a significant investment of which we are very proud! It allows us to take a further step in our sustainability policy.

How does an RTO work ?

First, the air is "washed" in the gas scrubber. The substances removed from this air are reused as raw materials. After that, the air is made odourless by post-combustion. The post-combustion is carried out in such a way that almost all the energy can be recovered. Finally, the clean air is released back into the environment.
